Motor vehicle

Any vehicle equipped with an engine is a motor vehicle, except for vehicles for disabled persons, pedal-assisted bicycles (E-bikes), snorfietsen, mopeds and brommobielen (microcars). These vehicles do belong to the motor carriage category.

Vehicles that travel on a railway such as a tram, train or metro do not fall under the category of motor vehicles AND also not under the category of motor vehicles. They are, of course, VEHICLES.

A brommobiel is not a motor vehicle according to the definition below. However, a brommobiel must follow the rules that apply to a motor vehicle!

Article 1 of the RVV: Motor vehicles: all motorised vehicles except mopeds, pedal-assisted bicycles and vehicles for the disabled, intended to be propelled otherwise than by rail.
