Terms that are not translated in the theory exam
Terms not translated in the English-language theory exam and by an interpreter
In the English-language theory exam, terms are used that are anchored in Dutch law and from this, a number of rules apply specifically to these terms. For this reason, the CBR does not translate these terms and show and hear them in Dutch in the exam. If you have a theory exam with an interpreter, these terms will not be translated by the interpreter. Below is the list of terms:
- APK (MOT test)
- autoweg(en)
- brommobiel (micro car)
- erf (Home zone)
- snorfiets (Light moped)
Translating specific terms into English
There are terms in the theory exam that cannot be translated one-to-one into English. This is because they are not always used in the same context. CBR has translated the terms as follows:
- ‘rijverbod’ becomes: forbidden to drive
- ‘rijontzegging’ becomes: driving licence suspended
