Autoweg

The CBR does not translate the word motorway. Hence, we also only speak of a motorway.

The speed limit on an autoweg is 100 kilometers per hour, outside built-up areas. Inside built-up areas, the speed limit is 50 kilometers per hour, unless otherwise indicated by traffic signs.
Use of an autoweg is only permitted for motor vehicles that can and are allowed to drive at least 50km/h.
The CBR may also ask what the minimum speed is on an autoweg. You must then answer that there is no minimum speed on an autoweg. When a bridge is open or when there is a stationary traffic jam on an autoweg everyone is standing still and logically no minimum speed applies.

Drivers of a motor vehicle on more than two wheels, who are stationary in parking lanes, parking bays, emergency lanes and refuge areas located along autowegen must display sidelights and tail lights during the day, if visibility is seriously impaired, and at night.

Drivers are prohibited from turning or reversing their vehicles on an autoweg.
Stopping a vehicle on the carriageway of an autoweg is prohibited.

Except in emergencies, road users are prohibited from using the emergency lane, or hard shoulder on an autoweg.

Article 1 of the RVV:

Autoweg: road indicated by sign G3. Parking areas, petrol stations and bus stop areas located along autowegen do not form part of the autoweg.
