Speed in meters per second

If you look at the speedometer and see that you are driving 90 kilometers per hour, it is also useful to know how many meters you are traveling per second. Perhaps this will contribute to a better understanding of how fast you are actually driving.
If you want to know how many meters you are traveling per second, multiply your speed in kilometers per hour by 1000. You then have the number of meters per hour. There are 3600 seconds in an hour. Divide the number of meters per hour by 3600 and you know how many meters per second you are traveling. Simple isn’t it? Or could it be simpler?

Yes, to calculate approximately how many meters per second you travel, divide your speed by 4. To this result, you add 10 percent. You may not know the exact number of meters, but you are not far off.
Let’s check this with an example. Suppose you are driving 90 kilometers per hour. If you divide 90 by 4, the result is 22.5. Then you take 10 percent of 22.5, which is 2.25. If you drive 90 kilometers per hour, the result is 22.5 + 2.25 = 24.75 meters per second. At the CBR, this is simply rounded off, so 25 meters per second.
In this overview, the first column shows the various speeds in kilometers per hour. In the second column, the exact speed in meters per second. In the last column, the speed in meters per second according to the simple arithmetic.
