Blind and disabled pedestrians

Article 49 of the RVV states the following:

  • Drivers must give way to blind persons equipped with a white stick with one or more red rings and, for that matter, to all persons who have difficulty moving.

This means that you have to give way to blind people equipped with a white stick with one or more red rings who want to cross the carriageway. You must also give way to pedestrians using crutches or walker who want to cross the carriageway. You do not have to give way to wheelchair users.
