Theory exam

Before you can take the practical exam for the B license category, you must first pass the theory exam.

A passing result remains valid for 18 months.

An example: If you passed on April 4, 2024, you can take your practical test until October 4,2025. On October 5,2025, the result is no longer valid and you will not be admitted to the practical exam.

The theory exam consists of

  • 25 hazard recognition questions.
  • 12 KNOWLEDGE questions.
  • 28 INSIGHT questions.

Of the 25 hazard recognition questions, you must answer at least 13 correctly to pass.

Of the 12 KNOWLEDGE questions, you must answer at least 10 correctly.

Of the last exam component, the INSIGHT questions, you need to answer at least 25 correctly to pass.

The CBR usually puts extra questions in the theory exam. Usually these are 2 extra questions in the insight section. These 2 questions do not count towards the result. But the CBR does not say which questions are the extra questions. These are so-called new exam questions that the CBR has devised.
