Through roads

Through roads are autowegen and motorways. The image above shows a autoweg.
Motorways consist of separate carriageways. The speed limit on motorways between 7pm and 6am is 130 kilometers per hour. Between 6am and 7pm, the speed limit is 100 kilometers per hour. Of course, signs may indicate a lower speed limit. Temporary speed limits are indicated on matrix signs above the road.
Autowegen do not always consist of separate lanes. Often there is only 1 lane. There is then a double white line between the 2 lanes with a continuous green stripe in between. The white lines may be broken or solid. A combination of a broken and a solid line is also possible. The sidelines along a autoweg are continuous.

Autowegen are generally less safely designed than motorways and have, for example, narrower lanes, no emergency lanes and you can often encounter oncoming traffic.
Intersections with and between motorways are always flyovers. On autowegen, crossings are usually at ground level.

Below are 2 examples. The left image shows a road with an opportunity to overtake. The right-hand image shows a road where overtaking is not allowed.
