Vehicle for disabled persons

A vehicle for disabled persons is a vehicle intended for people with disabilities.

Vehicles for disabled persons may be used both inside and outside built-up areas, on all road sections except autowegen, and motorways.
Normal motor vehicles driven by a disabled person do not belong to this category.

A vehicle for disabled persons may be parked in a disabled parking space even if the vehicle does not have a disabled parking permit. However, this is subject to the restriction (which also applies to cars with a disabled parking permit) that the parking is related to the transportation of a disabled person.
A vehicle for disabled persons may also be parked on the sidewalk or footpath. This is one reason for the popularity of these vehicles among non-disabled people, especially in large cities with few and expensive parking spaces.

If the driver of a vehicle for disabled persons crosses at a crosswalk for pedestrians, you must give way.

The driver of a vehicle for disabled persons does not have to have a driver’s license. However, the driver must be at least 16 years old.

If the driver of a vehicle for disabled persons drives on the sidewalk or footpath, the  speed limit is 6 kilometers per hour.
If the driver of a vehicle for disabled persons drives on a bicycle track within the built-up area, then a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour applies.
If the driver of a vehicle for disabled persons drives on a bicycle track outside a built-up area, the speed limit is 40 kilometers per hour.
If the driver of a vehicle for disabled persons is driving on a carriageway in or outside a built-up area, a speed limit of 45 kilometers per hour applies.
