How many meters following distance

On this page, we show the minimum distance you should keep from your car in front in meters.
If you want to calculate the exact number of meters according to the 2-second rule, you need to be a math prodigy. Because if you want to calculate the following distance exactly, you multiply the driven speed by 1000. This is because 1 kilometer is 1000 meters. Then you divide this result by 3600 because 1 hour has 3600 seconds. You now know how many meters per second you travel. Then very simply multiply this result by 2. You now know exactly how many meters you need to keep a minimum distance according to the 2 seconds rule. Simple isn’t it?
Of course, this is not simple and for 99 per cent of people not doable.

We are going to calculate this more simply. Just divide the speed driven by 2. Add 10 per cent to this result. By the way, at the CBR, the correct answer is often, just divide by 2. An example: Suppose you drive 100 kilometers per hour just like in the picture above. This 100 kilometers per hour divided by 2 is 50 meters distance. Now add 10 per cent of 50, i.e. 5, to 50. The correct following distance is then 55 meters.
As you can see, the difference between the quick way of calculating with the exact one is negligible.
Then below is an overview of the following distance according to the 2-second rule at different speeds according to the exact way of calculating and the fast way:
